Question by Barrett!!!: Career with Kinesiology and Exercise?
I want to do something with Exercise and still make somewhat good money. I’d love to research it, but I want to be involved with it. I love the scientific aspect behind it.

Any pointers on should I major in something else to pursue my love of teaching or to major in Kine and find something better?

Answer by Baked n Blended
My son has a Kinese degree and now works at a law firm. The science aspect of that major might qualify you for employment with pharmaceutical companies, etc.
Be a teacher. Better yet, be an administrator in the education system. I know administrators (asst. principals, etc) who have teaching degree’s, never taught, and make $ 75,000+ a year. requires a minimum of a master’s dgreee in Ed. Go on for a PhD and earn over $ 100,000+

You would have the same amount of time as any other MD in an acute care type practice. You would do office hours, hospital rounds, and, yes, take call. Oncologists have emergencies.

Question by I saw a crumb..hehe..: Which career choice would be most wise?
I’m curious about which career to pursue and I’m looking for something easy to accredit in (like a two year degree). I’ve got about three and a half more years of financial aid and I’m kind of strapped as to what I want to be. Could you help elaborate on these jobs a bit?

Careers:
-AAS in Radiologic Technology

-AAS in Professional Pilot – Helicopter (i’ve heard that it isn’t that great to go into)

-AAS in Social and Human Services (unsure as to what it entails)

-Police Certification (i’m a girl so uhm good or bad idea?)

-Gerontology (heard that not a lot of people go into this and it’s a good career)

-Computer Networking Technician (unsure as I dont know what they do)

-Cisco Networking Specialist (curious)

-Medical Coding (I really want to know if this would be a good career or not, ive heard that many people go into this and it’s sort of a scam degree?)

These are all the certificates and degrees that i’m interested in, do you know if these fields are good enough to enter in this economy. Detail explanation would be great! Also, Which careers would be bad choices and what are the advantages/disadvantages? Thanks for your answers!

Question by aedwards02: For a science career, possibly oncology(cancer treatment), which foreign language should I take during college
I am going to be a freshmen in college this fall. I am going to major in molecular biology, probably heading for med school after that. I want to do something in oncology (cancer treatment). My question is whether i should take something like Chinese, for the high demand of people fluent in Chinese, or should I take something like Spanish, since obviously there is a large Spanish population in the US?

Best answer:

Answer by HackerofC
Chinese Culture and language are something difficult– yer rewarding.

However, there might be a need for Chinese speakers, but that is mostly in the areas of the CIA or Medical Researcher, the former taking the top spot.

Hispanic people still not graduating from college like they should and their population is to said the least, exploding.

Much of the grow is from immigration, Therefore, people with low English skils.

Taking Chinese would not hurt.
But taking and Mastering Spanish will help.

Even UCLA agrees:

Question by Berly M: WIth a BS in Kinesiology what career advancements are there for a PTA without having to go back to PT school?
I was thinking more long term. Perhaps director of rehab or some other management position? Also, does anyone know the pay scale for working at a county hospital? A client works as a PTA in pediatrics and makes $ 44/hr in California.

Answer by TheFominator
I have a B.S in Kinesiology aka…Exercise Science.

I work for a tobacco company.

I started as a personal trainer, got my ACE certification. You can make good money doing that.

You can work in a cardiac rehab but usually need a masters and there isn’t good money in it. Very repetitive.

You can work as a an assistant for chiropractor, sports med center, field trainer, physical therapist. Most still require more specific training that your employer may pay for.

Good luck….

Question by XxX_alice-in-wonder-land_XxX: Doctor career Oncology!?
I am REALLY interested in becoming an oncologist(the study, therapy, treatment and knowledge of cancer). I am willing when i complete school to do the 12 years of studies required. Anyone have any more info on the job, salary, requirements .. etc?..?

Best answer:

Answer by nytrainop
Its like any other specialty. You go to medical school and then specialize in Oncology. Medical or hematology. You should aim for a fellowship at Sloan Ketter, the mayo clinic, fred hutchinson or one of the other big academic centers. Like evrything else, the pay varies. An attending makes a OK salary while someone good in the private practice can make millions. Its lots of hard work. Many oncologists are also researchers and have PhD’s as well. Oncology also is rough…many of your patients do not make it despite your best efforts.
